When I am old again, I will sit outside on other people’s porches, on other people’s yard chairs; I will take photographs of their neatly manicured lawns with their neatly tended flowers in their wittingly postured pots.

When I am old again, I will laugh out loud and talk with the children who follow butterflies with homemade nets;
and I’ll stop for an espresso at The Perfect Little Shop on the Corner because I can.

When I am old again I will be new, and I’ll do all the things I should have done when I was young;
I’ll dance in the street to the music in my head, and not care who sees; and I’ll ride my Harley back to the time when I could.

So be forewarned, and don’t be shocked when suddenly I am old again, and I decide to sit on your front porch to laugh and sing and dance.

    […] Warning is the first poem in this anthology of essays, photographs and poems, and was the inspiration for my own poem posted here. […]

The Whisper of God

"Let us be silent, so that we may hear the whisper of God" Ralph Waldo Emerson ~~~ Several years ago, I started writing down all the amazing ways God used my day to day activities, children, family, friends and nature to teach me. The more I wrote, the more I noticed God in my daily life. It became an exercise of the heart and grew my relationship with Christ in a way I had never experienced. I began to hear God whisper to my heart His desires and lessons for me. I hope that reading some of my stories will encourage you stop and listen for His whisper!
