30 Oct

It’s dark. Early morning. Only an occasional car passes through the wet street. Not even the birds are awake. The sky is streaked with gray clouds dimming, and the stars are still visible. Inside, the fragrance of coffee is wafting through the chill of the rooms, and the grandfather clock has just chimed it’s last note for the four am hour.

Reading through midnight, until my eyes were heavy laden, I scarcely put down my book du jour, and turned off the lamp that deep sleep scudded over me. A little over three hours. A nap. Perhaps my mind has my days and nights confused. Perhaps there is something to be known. In this hour. In this night of day.

Trickling off the roof is rain, slowly sliding down windows and dripping out of rain-gutter spouts. Goings-on reserved for this time. This hour. There is no chatter over the rail bridge this morning. No whistle echoing through the mountains or skipping across the ocean like so many stones. I had so hoped.

The Whisper of God

"Let us be silent, so that we may hear the whisper of God" Ralph Waldo Emerson ~~~ Several years ago, I started writing down all the amazing ways God used my day to day activities, children, family, friends and nature to teach me. The more I wrote, the more I noticed God in my daily life. It became an exercise of the heart and grew my relationship with Christ in a way I had never experienced. I began to hear God whisper to my heart His desires and lessons for me. I hope that reading some of my stories will encourage you stop and listen for His whisper!
