(first six volumes)

Stephen R. Donaldson strings his words together in such a superb way that even if you don‘t care much for the epic fantasy, you‘ll want to read this series. The story line is a bit convoluted, very complex, and if you are not fully immersed in concentration and attention, you will not get it. Much to your dismay I’m afraid.

I received these books as a gift a few years back, and at first read, found them difficult to get through. There are too many characters flittering about the outlying areas, with too many mini-story-lines following the main thread, but the thought process that went into the writing of these books is mind boggling. It is because of this that I kept reading.

Covenant, an author who is afflicted with leprosy, finds himself mystically transported to ‘The Land’, another Earth, a magical realm in which he seems destined to be savior. The journey he takes, the people he meets – and the message he carries are superbly paraded about on each page.

Science Fiction epic Fantasy first published in 1977 by

Holt, Rinehart and Winston

There are ten books in this series: Lord Foul’s Bane (1977); The Illearth War (1977); The Power That Preserves (1977); The Wounded Land (1980); The One Tree (1982); White Gold Wielder (1983); The Runes of the Earth (2004); Fatal Revenant (2007); Against All Things Ending (2010); and, The Last Dark (due for release 2013).

If you get lost, as I did, don’t give-up ……… this is an adventure you will WANT to take.

The Whisper of God

Years ago, I started writing down all the amazing ways God used my day-to-day activities, children, family, and nature to teach me. The more I wrote, the more I noticed our extraordinary God in my everyday ordinary life. It became an exercise of the heart and grew my relationship with Christ in a way I had never experienced. Opening up the Bible daily drew me into His will and wonderful ways. He was no longer a friend of a friend, but my personal friend. I began to hear God whisper His desires and lessons for me. Now, my goal is to encourage women to stop and listen for His whisper in their lives by sharing what God has taught me through my Bible Studies and devotionals.
