18 Jul

This morning, as is my usual custom, I awoke before the sun. I stood at the large window in my kitchen, coffee in hand, as my eyes wandered up the regal mountain-side.

In my world, it is not so out of character to travel outside the lines. There’s a beauty in the simplicity and certitude of this.

As the sun came up this morning, a  blending of sights, sounds and fragrances were starting to emerge. My little town was waking. Although I couldn’t see it, a Harley Davidson (sound distinctive) cruised along the Pacific Coast Highway; a flock of Seagulls flapped and honked in unison as they skimmed across the wind; a frog croaked in my yard; and the aromatic bouquets of  the ocean’s salt air, and coffee sewed it all together.

As the sun sizzled it’s way higher, with it’s swathe of red and orange satin, it seemed disingenuous to have an ill-care. After all, this postcard, this fairy-tale I call home, simply won’t allow it.

The Whisper of God

Years ago, I started writing down all the amazing ways God used my day-to-day activities, children, family, and nature to teach me. The more I wrote, the more I noticed our extraordinary God in my everyday ordinary life. It became an exercise of the heart and grew my relationship with Christ in a way I had never experienced. Opening up the Bible daily drew me into His will and wonderful ways. He was no longer a friend of a friend, but my personal friend. I began to hear God whisper His desires and lessons for me. Now, my goal is to encourage women to stop and listen for His whisper in their lives by sharing what God has taught me through my Bible Studies and devotionals.
